Dear gentlemen!

   A round table “Political parties and human rights”, organized by the Federation for Peace and Conciliation, Human Rights Information Center, The State Duma  Committee on the affairs of public associations and religious organizations, the Federation Council RF Committee on the constitutional legislature, the State Duma Committee on legislature, the Commissioner on Human Rights in the Russian Federation, The Center of sociology of human rights of the Institute social political studies RAN will take place on November 26 at the Federation for Peace and Conciliation.

   The round tables on this subject held before (1997,2000) called much interest from the side of political parties, political public movements, public and right-protection organizations, science and development structures. A broad range of problems was a subject for discussion. The main attention was paid to the analysis of the state and prospects of development of the party system, constitution of the civil society, situation with the human rights in Russian society, political parties’ activities to resolve problems of human rights, forms and methods of this work. The interaction of political parties and right-protection organization, issues of legislature modification from the point of view of protection for political parties, democracy of their functioning and behavior during electoral campaigns were thoroughly discussed. The results of expert polls, conducted by a sociologic agency “Barometr” also reflected opinions and estimations of the round tables.

   Within the framework of this round table “Political parties and human rights” actual problems of political parties’ activities, linked with the constitution of the civil society, the role of political parties in the development of rights and freedoms of Russian citizens, the reinforcement of their guaranties are  supposed to be discussed.

   Members of the Federation Council RF, deputies of the State Duma RF, leaders of political parties, political public movements, representatives of the Ministry of justice RF, the Central electoral commission RF, public and right-protection organizations, science and development institutes, mass media will take part in the work of the round table.
